Spectrum Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
1. Overview
Spectrum is a local-first color hunt app. It helps you choose color palettes, capture colors with your device camera, build a personal Color Atlas, and share generated photo or collage previews.
We designed Spectrum to work without an account, backend profile, or cloud sync. Your captures and app data are stored locally on your device unless you choose to share them using your device’s system share sheet.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
Spectrum does not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers. Spectrum does not require account registration and does not operate a user-tracking backend.
We do not use your photos, camera content, location, or Color Atlas for advertising or third-party tracking.
3. Information Used Locally on Your Device
The app may use the following information locally to provide its features:
- Camera: used to take photos for color hunts and palette captures.
- Photos or generated images: captures and collages are stored locally inside the app’s local data.
- Approximate location or city information: may be used locally on your device to create or label City Hunt palettes. Spectrum does not send your location to our servers, does not store precise addresses, and does not build a location history profile.
- Notifications: used for local reminders if you grant permission. Spectrum does not use push tokens or a remote notification server.
- App settings: language, theme, notification preferences, accessibility preferences, onboarding state, and similar settings are stored locally.
4. Photos and Color Captures
Photos you take in Spectrum are used to create your local Color Atlas, palette progress, collages, and share previews. These photos remain on your device unless you choose to share them through iOS or another system sharing option.
When you share a photo or collage, it is handled by the operating system and the app or service you choose, such as Messages, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, or another destination. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
5. Location and City Hunt
Spectrum may request location permission to create or display City Hunt palettes. The app uses this information to associate captures with a city-level palette experience.
Spectrum is not intended to collect or publish precise location history. If city information is shown in a share preview, it is used as a simple label such as “Captured in Sofia.”
6. Notifications
If you allow notifications, Spectrum may schedule local reminders throughout the day. These reminders are created on your device. You can disable notifications in the app settings or in your device settings at any time.
7. Third-Party Services
Spectrum does not use third-party advertising SDKs, third-party tracking SDKs, analytics SDKs, or a remote crash-reporting SDK. If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated accordingly.
8. Children’s Privacy
Spectrum is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Spectrum does not require an account or backend profile, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Spectrum stores app data locally on your device. You can delete captures or app data using the app’s available controls where supported. You can also remove all locally stored Spectrum data by deleting the app from your device.
10. Your Choices
You can control permissions in iOS Settings, including camera, location, and notifications. If you deny a permission, some app features may not work until the permission is enabled again.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Spectrum changes. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
